ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 03, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — By Light announced today that the TrueShot AI Stinger Surface-to-Air Missile Training System has successfully completed Government Acceptance Testing (GAT), marking a major milestone for the Stinger Production contract supporting Army CPE ST3. This achievement follows a successful Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) earlier this year and positions the team to begin fielding Increment 1 capabilities at the two major North American Army Training Centers starting this fall.
The Stinger Trainer delivers a practical and reliable solution for soldiers tasked with confronting short-range air defense threats—an area that has rapidly returned to prominence on the modern battlefield. As air threats have evolved, the Army’s need for realistic, repeatable, and instrumented training has intensified. Because live Stinger missile engagements are limited by cost, range availability, and safety considerations, the TrueShot AI Stinger Trainer fills an essential gap. The system provides physically representative, emission-free training that preserves authentic handling and employment procedures, ensuring Stinger gunners gain the repetitions needed to build readiness and confidence.
Cole Engineering Services, Inc. (CESI), a By Light Company, serves as the prime and lead systems integrator on the effort. The TrueShot AI Stinger Trainer will equip collective training centers and Brigade Combat Teams with a world-class tool designed to strengthen the Army’s short-range air defense mission.
“The fielding of the Stinger Training System at Joint Readiness Training Center marks a significant step forward in modernizing our force’s training capabilities,” said Christopher Ramirez, Assistant Program Manager for CPE ST3. “Delivering this high-fidelity system into the hands of soldiers provides them with the realistic, critical training capabilities necessary to effectively train for the complex, multi-domain environment of modern warfare.”
“We are proud to support Army CPE ST3 in advancing such a critical capability,” said Thomas Fransson, SVP Operations, Simulation Products & Services for CESI. “Short-range air defense is once again central to modern maneuver, and soldiers need access to realistic, repeatable training that prepares them for the conditions they will encounter in the field. Government Acceptance Testing is a testament to the dedication of our team and partners, and we’re excited to help deliver a system that meaningfully enhances readiness across Army formations.”
By Light has a long and successful history of building training systems for CPE ST3, and this latest milestone reinforces their commitment to delivering world-class solutions for domestic and allied customers. With GAT complete, the team anticipates increased interest from end users outside the initial fielding schedule, reflecting a broader recognition of the system’s value to the force.
The multi-year task order, awarded under an OTA contract vehicle, represents a continuation of existing work and will support ongoing modernization of Army training capabilities. As fielding preparations get underway, the TrueShot AI Stinger Trainer stands ready to bring advanced, scalable training to the soldiers who need it most.
