Lupus IT Consulting launches a dedicated Windows driver with lifetime licenses, offline license validation and support for QuestDB 9.1.0 and later
HUNGEN, GERMANY, September 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Lupus IT Consulting today announced the general availability of the Lupus ODBC Driver for QuestDB, a native Windows ODBC driver that connects QuestDB to business and development environments, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power BI, Python and .NET. The driver is available immediately, is sold as a one-time purchase rather than a subscription, and supports QuestDB 9.1.0 and later.
The launch follows QuestDB 10, released on August 6, 2026, which introduced the QuestDB Wire Protocol (QWP), Live Views and Web Console 2.0 and extended the database’s reach into high-volume time-series workloads. As QuestDB deployments grow, so does the need to make that data available in the tools organizations already use for reporting and analysis – without exporting it, duplicating it, or writing custom integration code.

Built for QuestDB, not adapted from a generic connector
The driver connects over the PostgreSQL Wire Protocol, which QuestDB continues to support alongside QWP and which remains widely used for ODBC-based tooling. The difference lies above the transport layer: it works natively with QuestDB’s own metadata and data types instead of mapping them onto a generic PostgreSQL model.
All 19 QuestDB column types are mapped, including LONG256, IPv4, UUID, GEOHASH and DECIMAL, which generic drivers typically hand over as text. Table, column, type, primary key and statistics information is answered from QuestDB’s own metadata rather than from a PostgreSQL system catalog. Parameterized queries, prepared statements, escape translation and per-data-source row limits are supported, and both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows applications can use the driver. Support for QWP is being evaluated for a future release.
Designed for result sets of millions of rows
Result sets are streamed as data becomes available rather than materialized in client memory first. This keeps client-side memory requirements largely independent of the total size of a query result, and it allows running queries to be cancelled instead of waiting for a large result set to complete.
Lifetime licensing, offline operation, no telemetry
Unlike connectors sold on annual subscriptions, the Lupus ODBC Driver for QuestDB is a one-time purchase. Every license is valid for life and includes two years of updates from the day it is issued; after that the driver keeps working, and only a newer release requires a new license. Workstation licenses start at USD 279, with site and enterprise licenses available for server, multi-session and organization-wide deployments.
License validation runs entirely on the customer’s machine and never contacts Lupus IT Consulting, so the driver can be licensed on machines without internet access. The software transmits no database queries, database information or usage data to Lupus IT Consulting. Installer and driver libraries are Authenticode-signed and timestamped, and the driver verifies its own signature at runtime.
Tested against a fixed QuestDB matrix
Each release is accepted only after passing the full test suite against four QuestDB instances – 9.1.0, 9.2.0, 9.3.3 and 10.0.0 – in both 32-bit and 64-bit builds. The consumers verified alongside them are Power BI Desktop, Excel via both MS Query and Power Query, pyodbc and .NET.
Availability
Both drivers ship in a single installer for Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016 or newer; no Visual C++ redistributable is required. A free 14-day trial is available without payment details. Every feature and the complete catalog are unlocked in the trial; it returns at most 250 rows per query, so production volume is what a purchased license adds. The trial license runs on any Windows edition, including servers, so it can be evaluated on the intended target machine.
