November 02, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –
Guys Roofing Contractor Miami Crew has opened a paid apprenticeship program that recruits and trains entry-level roofing workers from North Miami and the surrounding neighborhoods. The first cohort begins field training in January 2027, with applications accepted through December.
The program places apprentices alongside experienced crew members on active residential and commercial projects, combining supervised field work with classroom instruction in jobsite safety, fall protection and material handling. Participants earn wages throughout the training period and progress through documented skill checkpoints rather than a fixed calendar schedule.
Recruitment is directed at residents of Miami-Dade County, with outreach running through neighborhood associations, community centers and local workforce organizations. The company has stated that applicants are not required to hold prior construction experience, and that the program is open to career changers as well as recent high school graduates.
“The trades in South Florida are facing a straightforward arithmetic problem, which is that experienced roofers are retiring faster than new ones are entering the field,” said a spokesperson for Guys Roofing Contractor Miami Crew. “Hiring and training locally keeps that knowledge in the neighborhoods where the work is actually being done.”
Apprentices receive instruction across the roofing systems common to the region, including tile, metal, asphalt shingle, modified bitumen and single-ply flat assemblies. Coursework also addresses the wind-uplift and water-intrusion requirements that govern coastal construction, along with the inspection and documentation practices that follow severe weather events.
The company has committed to retaining apprentices who complete the program as full crew members, subject to project volume. A second cohort is planned for mid-2027, and the roofing company in Miami intends to expand the number of training positions if the first group completes at the rate projected.
Operating as a roofing contractor in Miami and the adjacent municipalities, the firm performs roof installation, replacement, repair and maintenance for residential and commercial property owners. Its work also covers roof inspection, roof coating, attic ventilation, gutter installation and repair, skylight installation and emergency roofing response across new construction, re-roofing and repair projects.
The spokesperson noted that the apprenticeship follows a period of steady demand for re-roofing work across older housing stock in the North Miami area, much of it driven by insurance requirements and by roof assemblies reaching the end of their service life. Staffing those projects with locally trained crews has become a practical requirement rather than a preference, according to the company.
